San Jose Sharks Preview: Celebrini Listed Day to Day
2025-26 recap: San Jose went 39-35-8 (86 points), finished fifth in the Pacific Division and missed the playoffs. Celebrini had 115 points (45 goals, 70 assists) and became the third teenager in NHL history to finish in the top four in league scoring, joining Sidney Crosby and Wayne Gretzky (NHL.com). Will Smith had 59 points, Alexander Wennberg had 55 and Collin Graf scored 21 goals.
Offseason moves: Celebrini signed a five-year, $94 million contract on July 29. San Jose signed defenseman Jacob Trouba (four years) and forward Mason Marchment (five years), acquired defenseman Darnell Nurse from Edmonton and defenseman Michael Kesselring from Buffalo, and selected forward Ivar Stenberg No. 2 in the 2026 draft. William Eklund was traded to Ottawa, and Mario Ferraro signed with Winnipeg (NHL.com).

St. Louis Blues Preview: Home Opener After Three Road Games
2025-26 recap: St. Louis went 37-33-12 (86 points), finished fifth in the Central Division and missed the playoffs. Robert Thomas led the team with 64 points (25 goals, 39 assists) in 64 games, Dylan Holloway and Jimmy Snuggerud each had 51 points, and Pavel Buchnevich had 48 (NHL.com).
Offseason moves: St. Louis added center Mason McTavish, the No. 3 selection in the 2021 draft, who had 41 points for Anaheim, forward Connor McMichael (46 points for Washington), defensemen Brandon Carlo (Toronto) and Justin Barron (Nashville), and forwards Dillon Dube and Ross Johnston. Defenseman Adam Jiricek, the No. 16 selection in 2024, made the team. Jordan Kyrou (46 points) now plays for Washington (NHL.com).

Goalies: Joel Hofer went 24-13-5 with a 2.61 GAA, .910 save percentage and six shutouts in 46 games last season. He made 25 saves in a shutout at Dallas on Oct. 2 and 17 saves on 19 shots at Chicago on Tuesday. Jordan Binnington went 13-20-7 with a 3.33 GAA and .873 save percentage in 41 games and made 30 saves on 36 shots at Colorado on Oct. 3. St. Louis had not confirmed a starter at research time.
Season so far: McTavish scored 1:34 into the opener, a 4-0 win at Dallas on Oct. 2, and Colorado won 6-1 on Oct. 3. At Chicago on Tuesday, McTavish scored in the first period and McMichael scored on the power play in the final minute, but the Blackhawks won 4-2. McTavish and Dvorsky have two goals each (NHL.com).
Injuries: Forward Alexey Toropchenko (upper body) will miss at least six weeks, the team announced Sunday. Defenseman Tyler Tucker had knee surgery and will be re-assessed in six weeks, defenseman Logan Mailloux (hand surgery) is on injured reserve, and forward Felix Trudeau is on the injured non-roster list (ESPN).
