Eli Manning to start Sunday against Cowboys

New York Giants interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed Wednesday that Eli Manning will be reinserted as the team’s starter for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

“I told Spags that I want to play and be the starting quarterback … I wanted him to know that … I’m happy that he went with that decision and that he has faith in me,” said Manning.

Spagnuolo also announced that Geno Smith will remain the backup for Week 14, with rookie Davis Webb continuing as the No. 1 quarterback, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

Webb’s practice reps are increasing, added Spagnuolo, but he’s yet to receive any first-team reps. Despite Manning regaining the starting job, Webb is still expected to receive game action over the final month of the season.
